Watching
TV Shows:
- The Boys (Season 3) – the show hasn’t wasted any time, getting right into the action and the depravity from the very first episode!
These were the movies that I watched over the last weekend:
- Chronicles of Evil (2015) – This film won’t make it on to any classic Korean film lists, but it was still entertaining throughout.
- The Neighbors (2012) – Aside from some annoying plot devices, this was a good Korean film with good performances from all the leads.
- Blade Runner 2049 (2017) – Director Denis Villeneuve brought his characteristic style (epic sci-fi, haunting melancholy soundtrack, grand but sparse scenes and cerebral themes) to the Blade Runner storyline, resulting in a film that explored the AI+tech issues a bit more deeply than the original, in my opinion.
- Arrival (2016) – An alien first contact film with no violence, and dealing broadly with the many possible responses that the human race would put forward if such a thing were to happen. The direction was absolutely on point – this film highlights Denis Villeneuve’s deep thinking on his films’ subject matter. Great performance by Amy Adams too.
